As we wait for warm weather to return to Indiana, I wanted to provide an alternate way to keep gardening through the winter.
Create an indoor garden:
To start an indoor garden all you need is some pots, or any container sized to the plants you plan to grow.
For better drainage I recommend putting a layer of rocks or gravel in the bottom and then filling with potting soil.
You will want to place your indoor garden next to a south facing window, so that it receives as much sunlight as possible.
For best results I've provided the below list of recommended plants to grow indoors during the winter.
Alpine Strawberries
Arugula
Beans
Broad Beans
Brussel Sprouts
Collard Greens
Garlic Chives or Greens
Kale
Lettuce
Peppers
Winter Cabbage
You can also plant an Herb Garden.
Basil
Cilantro
Lemon Balm
Oregano
Rosemary
Thyme
